Alicia (Rodriguez) Vega

Alicia Vega, 78, Harrisburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at her home with her beloved family by her side.
Born April 12, 1939 in Arroyo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Avelino Rodriguez and Adela Caraballo.
Alicia was the owner of the former Vega’s Spanish and American Grocery in Harrisburg and was a devout Catholic.
She devoted her life to her family, especially her children, and her store. Cooking was always her passion, and you could be sure she would be wearing an apron whenever you saw her.
Her years at the grocery store at 13th and Derry Street will always be fondly remembered by her customers, who praised her for her loving and peaceful service to her community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by many siblings and her son, José, whose passing last year was devastating for her.
Surviving is her love of 35 years, Andres C. Torres; 3 children, Maria Dominguez (and her husband, Roberto), Wade, NC, Pedro “Papo” Vega (and his wife, Daily), Puerto Rico and Riscardo “Ricky” Vega (and his wife, Dalin), Harrisburg; 7 brothers and sisters, Gigi Rodriguez, Carmen Rodriguez, Lucy Rodriguez, and Tita Rodriguez, all of Puerto Rico, Idalina Rodriguez, José Rodriguez and Anibal Rodriguez, all of Harrisburg; 14 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson on the way.
Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 23, 2017 at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market Street, Harrisburg. Friends will be received Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the funeral home from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, where there will be a Rosary recited at 8:00 PM.
Burial will follow the service at Holy Cross Cemetery, Harrisburg.
