Barbara Louise (Harlacher) Eckerd

Barbara Louise (Harlacher) Eckerd, 85, of Harrisburg, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at her home in Ecumenical Communities.

Born August 2, 1934 in Steelton, she was the daughter of the late William and Charlotte (Mailey) Harlacher and was a 1954 graduate of John Harris High School. Following high school, she worked in retail stores for 23 years.

In 1955, she married Charles E. Eckerd, Jr., who passed away in 1996. In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1956, her grandson, Todd Trump in 2016 and her Uncle Paul and Aunt Katherine Stever.

Barbara was a former member of the River Rescue and the Penbrook Fire Department Auxiliary and had been a Cub Scout Den Mother. She enjoyed playing cards.

Surviving are her children: Patricia Ann Moyer, Myrtle Beach, SC, Robert J. Eckerd, Etters and Timothy C. Eckerd, Harrisburg; 2 grandchildren, Steve and Jill; one great-granddaughter, Emily Rose; one great-grandson, Maverick; and her cousin, Nancy Stever.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Park beside her beloved husband.
