On Thursday, December 15, 2016, Barbara L. “Bunny” Peters, age 64, of Swatara Township, passed away at Hershey Medical Center. She is reunited with her soul mate and husband, John, who died in 2012 after nearly 37 years of marriage.
Born November 22, 1952 in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Othnel Kipp and Barbara Gnilakevich Kipp and was a graduate of Cedar Cliff High School.
She was employed by Sally Beauty Supply in Harrisburg and was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey. At her church, she volunteered for the food and clothing banks and was a leader for the Wednesday night Children’s Bible Study and the Christian based 12 Step Recovery Group. In addition, she was a leader for the Prison Ministries 12 Step Program at Dauphin County Prison. Bunny also loved doing crafts and attending craft fairs with her best friend, Cheryl.
Bunny’s life revolved around her children. She was a Girl Scout Leader and a 4-H Leader in Dauphin County. A member of Twelve Oaks Stable and Twin Brooks Horse Show Association, she was the ultimate Horse Show Mom and announced many shows at Twelve Oaks. She was a wonderful, funny and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She was the widow of John H. Peters and was also preceded in death by many, many beloved pets.
Surviving are her daughters: Barb M. Peters and Melissa R. Greco, both of Harrisburg; 3 brothers: Eugene Kipp (and his wife, Diane), Camp Hill, Gregory Kipp, Dauphin, and Roy Kipp (and his wife, Susan), Zionsville, Indiana; 5 grandchildren: Josalyn Boyer, John Zang-Peters, Samantha Greco, Jaeden Zang and Jaxson Zang; and her precious dogs: Kara, Britta, Diamond, and Juliet; her cat: Tiger Claw and her grand-horses: Bucky, CeeCee, Prince, Annie and Trojan and many wonderful friends, all of whom will miss her greatly.
A celebration of her life will be held 7:00 pm Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market Street, Harrisburg, with the Rev. Dr. David V. Martin officiating. Burial will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
