Carmen P. “Taty” Perez Rivera, 59, of Harrisburg, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 15, 2019 at her home.
Born November 23, 1959 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Wilfredo Perez and Gloria Rivera. She came to Harrisburg in 1989 before returning to Puerto Rico in 1992. In 1999, she came back to Harrisburg to be with her family. She was a founding member of the House of Healing Church, Harrisburg.
Taty was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend; she was the neighborhood “Mom” and her neighbors were family. Her quick wit and direct manner drew people to her and she enjoyed the times that everyone would hang out at her house. She was a patient mother who loved her family in her own way- and you never questioned how she felt. Her absolute joy was spending time with her precious granddaughter. Her house was easily recognized as she decorated it inside and out for each holiday. She enjoyed music and cooking, especially making soup and fish. Taty loved getting dressed up- making sure everything coordinated, from her jewelry to her clothes and her nail polish.
She is survived by her son, Anthony Santos (and Liza Otero), with whom she resided, her daughter, Glorymar Acevedo, Harrisburg; her husband, Melvin Martinez; her three brothers, Wilfredo Perez, Michael Perez and William Perez; and her beloved granddaughter, Gloryann Abreru.
