Doris M. (Niman) Hardy

July 24, 1926 — February 21, 2015

Doris M. (Niman) Hardy, 88, of Lower Paxton Township, and formerly of Lumber City (Reedsville) went to her eternal home in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 21, 2015 while at Osteopathic Hospital.

Born July 24, 1926 in Reedsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ellen (Dalby) Niman, and was also preceded in death by her siblings, Florence, Frances, Glen, Blair, Blain and Clifford. She resided in Reedsville most of her life, and retired from the Arrow Shirt Factory in Lewistown.

After moving to Harrisburg to be closer to her family, Doris became active at Crosspoint United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Women's Share Group and the Steward's Class. She loved to be outside, tending to her flowers and swimming and enjoyed reading and collecting owls.  Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her loving family.

She was the widow of William Russell Hardy, who passed away in 1971, just a few months shy of their 25th anniversary.

Surviving are her sons:  William R. (and his wife, JioAnne) Hardy, with whom she resided and Michael L. Hardy; 3 grandchildren:  Sean Hardy, Paul (and his wife, Barbara) Hardy and Heidi (and her husband, Chuck) Fought; 5 great grandchildren:  Madyson Hardy, Gage Hardy, Lucas Hardy, Gracelyn Fought and Chance Fought; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends and extended family members, all of whom will miss her greatly.

A Celebration of her life will be held 11:00 am, Friday, February 27, 2015 at Crosspoint Church, 430 Colonial Road, Harrisburg, 17109, with Pastor Jennifer Williams officiating.  Friends will be received from 10:30 am until the time of services.  She will be buried beside her beloved husband in Churchill Cemetery, Reedsville, at the convenience of the family.

Contributions in her memory are to be made to her church.
