Doris L. Ramsey, a self-described happy camper, passed away on November 18, 2017. A life-long resident of Harrisburg and Paxtang, she was born in Harrisburg on June 11, 1923 to the late R(obert) Leo and Myrtle (Lane) Ramsey.
Doris loved dancing, especially at the Brown Saddle during WWII, because “with all the GIs, you were always guaranteed a dance”. She enjoyed visiting relatives in Huntingdon County throughout her life, and travelling through the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe.
A 1941 graduate of John Harris High School, Doris began her work career at the Telegraph Press “where everything was run strictly military”, and retired in 1980 from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She had belonged to the American Legion in Rockhill Furnace, the PA Association of Retired State Employees, and several area ‘golden age’ groups.
Doris is survived by a son, Lane Klobucar, Harrisburg, her beloved grandchildren, Catherine and her husband Sam Foley of San Diego, CA and Michael of Philadelphia, PA, her brother, R(obert) Lane Ramsey and his husband, Hans Niederer, of Jensen Beach, FL.
The family thanks the staff of Spring Creek Nursing and Rehab and Grane Hospice for the care provided to Doris.
At Doris’s request, there will be no viewing and funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.
Kimmel Funeral Home, Harrisburg, is handling arrangements.
