Dorothy Anne (Blanchard) Spogli

On Saturday, February 6, 2021, Dorothy A. (Blanchard) Spogli, 92, of Lower Paxton Township was called home by her Heavenly Father while recovering at Ecumenical Community.

Born September 3, 1928 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (Gike) Blanchard and was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Joseph J. (and Josephine) Blanchard and Anthony (and Shirley) Blanchard.

Dottie lived in the Scranton area until she and her husband moved to Susquehanna Township in 1960. She ultimately worked for and retired from the Lower Paxton Township Tax Office.

Her faith was very important to her.  As an early member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, she was involved with many activities and groups at the church, including enjoying the Senior Group outings with her dear friends Rosalie, Carol, Dorothy W. and Dottie B. She and her friends also belonged to the Cenacle of the Blessed Mother, reciting the Rosary every week in Palmyra.

Dottie was a member of the West Hanover Community Senior Citizens Club and was an avid Notre Dame fan.

She loved a good fish fry at any area church, going to St. Anne’s Byzantine Catholic Church for picnics and polka, bus trips, visiting her brother in Williamsburg, VA, going to casinos and shopping and just trying to visit as many different places possible.

Mostly, she cherished caring for and spending time with her family- her husband Joe, son Joseph and his wife Tracey and their children and grandchildren, and her grand-dog Bella.

Dottie was a devout Catholic, a devoted wife and mother, the salt of the earth, and a fighter to the end.

Surviving is her beloved husband of over 60 years, Joseph J. Spogli; her son, Joseph K. Spogli (and his wife, Tracey), Mechanicsburg; her brother, Robert C. Blanchard (and his wife, Frances), Yorktowne, VA; her sister-in-law, Marie “Tillie” Walsh, Scranton; 5 grandchildren, Gina Gross (and her husband, Jon), Alyssa Spogli, Alexandra Cardina (and her husband, Michael), Ethan Sgrignoli, and Ashlee Folkemer (and her husband, Joel); 2 great grandchildren, Jacob Folkemer and Allyson Folkemer; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 am Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, 2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg. Private burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market Street, Harrisburg. Covid-19 protocols will be in place for both locations. Face coverings and social distancing will be required.
