Edith Santiago, (La Mafia) 85, Harrisburg, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Abington Hospital.

Born February 6, 1934 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Luis Santiago and Victoria Montero Santiago and was the widow of Hector Reyes. She was also preceded in death by her son, Hector “Gino” Reyes, her grandson, Evan Williams, her grandson-in-law, Benito Rodriguez, her grandson-in-law, Horacio Cabezas, her grandmother, Dolores Montalvo, her brother, Luis Angel Santiago and her nephew, Jose Javier Santiago.

She was raised in the Catholic faith. Her family moved to New York City when she was 12, and there she attended John Adams High School and studied nursing.

Always fixing and decorating her house, she was a great cook and had many creative talents. She was truly the rock of her family and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her daughters: Zulma Thomas (and husband, Roderick), Hanover and Mayra Duran (and her husband, Charles Negron), Lansdale; her beloved partner, Jose Velez, Harrisburg; her brother, Tito, her sister, Carmen; grandchildren: Helene, Elise, Aixa, Anthony (and his wife, Janice), Leslie, Gina, Chaslynn (and her fiancé, Justin); great grandchildren: Ginelle, Jailene, Hector, Hailey, Elisha, Eian, Hannah, Eliyanna, Evan, Jr., Ezekiel, J’Mel, Anthony, Ameire, Javion, Josiah, Julien and Jayceon; great great grandchildren: Yaralys, J’Mel and Jasmarie; nephews: Nelson, Armando, Tito, Jr., Chris, Jason, Rocky, Corey and Travis; nieces: Arlene, Ileana, Omayra, Griselle, Lisette, Stacy, and Casey; great nieces and nephews:  Jenalee, Jessy, Guillermo, Omar, Johnathan, Shaylise, Little Nelson, and other great nieces, nephews, family members, and dear friends.

Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market Street, Harrisburg. There will be a viewing on Friday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Burial will be in Oberlin Cemetery.
