Eva E. Burnside, 93, of Greene, NY, and formerly of Harrisburg, went to her eternal reward on Sunday, December 31, 2017.
Born June 5, 1924 in Saberton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Claytie and Stella (Edwards) Dotson and was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Bill Burnside, who passed away in 2016.
Eva served as a pastor’s wife alongside her husband for several pastorates in the Free Methodist Church and, in later years, for the Evangelical Wesleyan Church, to which she belonged from 1960 until her passing. She loved her family, her church, and her church family and enjoyed attending church camp which she did for most of her life. She loved being a homemaker and caring for her family; cooking, baking and playing games with them.
She will lovingly be remembered as a mom, grandma and “grandma-great”, who cared well for her family and always wanted to be near them.
Surviving are her children: Bill Burnside (and his wife, Janet), of Waco, TX; Brenda Symons (and her husband, Dennis), of Greene, NY and Esther Burnside, of Harrisburg; 3 sisters: Lenora Allison, Ruth Engelman (and her husband, Stan), and Esther Stout; 2 brothers: James Dotson (and his wife, Janet) and Harlan Dotson (and his wife, Joy); 10 grandchildren: Jennifer Hutyra, Heidi Burnside, David Burnside, Teresa Symons, Michelle Symons, Eric Symons, Alan Symons, Michael Symons, Brittany Symons and Christina Symons; 9 great grandchildren: Courtney Smithey, William Hutyra, Tyler Davis, Ryleigh Moore, Noah Symons, Seth Symons, Krista Symons, Isaiah Symons, and newborn, Skye; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 11:00 Monday, January 8, 2018 at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market Street, Harrisburg where there will be a viewing from 10:00 until 11:00 am. Burial will be beside her beloved husband at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
