Hans Ericson DiOrio, 22, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Carlisle on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.
Born February 6, 2001 on Long Island, NY, Hans was the son of the late Mario Bruce DiOrio and Dawn (Ringel) Witmer. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents: John Ringel, and Mario and June DiOrio.
He was a 2020 graduate of River Rock Academy and Cumberland Valley High School, and has worked for Giant Foods, KFC, Chewy, Stan’s Paving, and Door Dash. Following high school, Hans spent some time at the Navy Boot Camp in Great Lakes.
A man of quirky and diverse interests, he was a huge fan of all things Star Wars, playing video games on his X-Box, comic books, D&D, and cosplay at the Renaissance Faire. He was creative – drawing, reading and woodworking; but mostly cherished working on his Mustang, spending hours tinkering with it. Possessing eclectic taste in music, he enjoyed listening to Nirvana, Breaking Benjamin, Owl City (especially their song “Fireflies”), and Celtic Music. His favorite dish was always ramen noodles with spicy hot sauce, but “sibling sushi night” had a special place in his heart, as it was time he had with his beloved family.
As a member of a huge clan, Hans will be missed by his siblings: Lynn Wills (Joey), Michael DiOrio, River Bryner and Mario DiOrio; his grandparents: Vicky Ringel and Loraine and Walter Petzolt; his mother: Dawn Witmer; aunts and uncles: Dawn Smallwood (Donald), Barbara Ashcraft (Dennis); John Ringel (Linda), Eric Ringel (L. Stacey), Joanne Stoner (Scott), Christina Hawkins(Chico), Jack Ringel (Nicole), Paul DiOrio (Diane), Frank DiOrio (Simona), Debra Brimlow (Ronald), Linda Dauro (Joe), and John DiOrio; cousins: Christina, John, Sean, Dayna, David, Xavier, Donald, Jack, Wally, Cameron, Arianna, Kody, Nicole, Victoria, Paul (PJ), Gabriella, Tina, John, Kaitlin, William, Trevor, Travis, Carter, Heather, Joelin, and Bianca; many, many great aunts, uncles, other family members, and dear friends.
