Helen L. (GeeGee) Sirk, 88, a resident at Golden Living Center- Blue Ridge Mountain, Susquehanna Township, passed peacefully to join her beloved husband on Monday, March 24, 2014.
Born August 2, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Philomena (Pasqualie) GeeGee, Italian immigrants who came to America through Ellis Island. She was born in Duncannon, and attended Duncannon and Penn Township schools. Later, she resided at Sunnycrest Drive in Harrisburg and following her husband's passing, lived at Ecumenical Communities, Harrisburg before moving to Golden Living Center. Helen worked as a cashier at the former Ames Department Store and was a devout member of the Lower Paxton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her faith had her reading her Bible daily and singing spiritual songs of joy. She loved cooking and baking, and when friends visited, they never left hungry or empty handed. Her life was enriched by always being surrounded by faith, family, friends, and food.
Her husband, Alvin C. Sirk, passed away in 2008 after over 61 blessed years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by eight siblings.
Surviving are many nieces, nephews and spiritual brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 pm, Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Lower Paxton Kingdom Hall, 5761 Union Deposit Road, Harrisburg, with Elder Benton Wigton officiating. Burial at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens will be held at the convenience of the family.
