Jeanette E. McCurdy, age 89, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Jewish Home, Harrisburg.
Born in Harrisburg, she grew up in Penbrook and graduated from John Harris High School. She was a retired supervisor for the former Bell Telephone and AT&T; was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Harrisburg and was a member of the Kinnard Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers.
Jeanette was an accomplished musician and played in the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra for many years; she was also a talented artist. She dearly loved Dachshunds and was a wonderful caregiver to her dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rose (Brown) McCurdy, her Aunt Mary and Uncle Charlie Karper, who raised her, and her lifelong friend, Dr. Selena DeHart.
Jeanette has no immediate survivors; however, she leaves behind friends who loved her. She was a kind and generous person, and the world was a better place because Jeanette was part of it. She will be missed.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, June 30, 2014 at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market Street, Harrisburg. Friends will be received from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Burial will be in East Harrisburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 15 South 4th Street, Harrisburg, 17101.
