Kathi E. McLaughlin, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at her home in Halifax. She joins in Heaven her parents, her granddaughter, Jami Leigh Clemson and her brother, David McLaughlin.
Born August 12, 1947 in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Violet (Barbush) McLaughlin and was a 1965 graduate of John Harris High School, Harrisburg. Kathi worked at several places since high school, including Olivetti Manufacturing, but ultimately retired from Dauphin County Adult Probation.
Always deeply spiritual, she and her family attended services at Mt. Olivet Camp Meeting Association in Dillsburg their entire lives; her grandparents were involved since the 1940s. Kathi enjoyed fishing, boating and crabbing, especially in Chincoteague, where she went regularly with her parents and siblings, and continued the tradition with her own children and grandchildren.
You could often find Kathi wandering around auctions, craft fairs and antique shops with her friends. She had a deep love of arts and crafts. An avid reader, she would always have a book open wherever she was. Kathi loved all animals, and really enjoyed watching the hummingbirds at her feeder.
Mostly, however, she was devoted to her family. She and her siblings were always supportive of each other growing up. Kathi was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, and her family and friends will miss her greatly.
Surviving are her children: Stacey Diodato, Halifax, Scott (and his wife, Stephanie) Cieszynski, Hummelstown and Kristy Cieszynski, with whom she resided in Halifax; her sister: Dori A. (and her husband, Brian) Quigley, Halifax; 3 grandchildren: Cade Cieszynski, Brittney Klahre and Cassidy Swartz; her great granddaughter: Aaliyah Frigm; nieces and nephews; and many other family members and dear friends.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, April 28, 2017 at Paxtang Cemetery.
A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Mt. Olivet Camp Meeting Association, 300 Camp Ground Road, Dillsburg.
