Kathleen L. “Kathy” Wickert, 63, of Lower Allen Township, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019.
Born May 18, 1955 in Stamford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Joan (Weaver) King and was also preceded in death by two brothers, (infant) Jeffrey King and James King.
Kathy turned her passion for cooking into a fulfilling career. She opened the Flagship Giant Cooking School at the store in Camp Hill and managed this school for the rest of her life. From Senior Surprise to Gingerbread Houses during the holidays, Chef Kathy was a known part of the community. She touched so many lives, she was unable to walk through the store without being stopped by friends.
A member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, she was a descendant of Reverend Thomas Hooker, the founder of Connecticut.
Surviving are her children: Jeffrey D. “Jasper” Wickert, Seattle and Melissa L. "Lissy" Demmy (and her husband, Jonathan), Enola; her brothers: Barry R. King (and his wife, Connie), Elba, NY and Steven H. King (and his wife, Kim), Hershey; 2 grandchildren, who always called her GG, for “Grandma Gorgeous”: Aubree Demmy and Jameson Demmy; her dear companion: Carl Martinez, New Cumberland; nieces, nephews and cousins; and her four-legged grand-kitties, Prince and Inky. In addition, she will be dearly missed by her students, co-workers and friends at Giant.
To honor her love of cooking, her family will holding a celebration of her life at the Giant Community Center on April 14, 2019 from 1pm to 3pm. 3301 Trindle Rd Camp Hill, PA 17011
