Larry R. Snyder, 67, Carlisle, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Select Specialty Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born February 29, 1948 in Mechanicsburg, he was the son of the late Roy and Mildred (Eckert) Snyder and was a 1966 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School. After briefly working at Weis Markets following graduation, he served his country for several years in the US Army, and was deployed to Korea during the Vietnam War. After he returned home, he worked with his dad at his auto repair business. Larry loved working on cars, and ultimately became a crew member at Silver Spring and Williams Grove Speedways. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and guns of all kinds. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, particularly Rusty Wallace. He was retired from HJ Heinz as a forklift operator/supervisor. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge in Harrisburg and Silver Spring Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsburg. In his downtime, he read thrillers and military books, both fiction and non-fiction. He especially enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Zorro, Clyde, Bert, Ernie and Pugsley and sharing his coffee with Clyde every morning.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Snyder.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Linda L., who he married on January 7, 1978; one son: Eric R. Snyder, Carlisle; one sister: Charlotte Horner, Carlisle; nieces and nephews; and his precious dogs.
Graveside services with military honors will be held 11:30 am Friday, March 25, 2016 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
