Madeline A. Figueroa

Madeline A. Figueroa, 65, of Harrisburg, who touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Osteopathic Hospital. Born April 3, 1959, in Puerto Rico to the late Justino Figueroa and Judith Adams, she brought a ray of sunshine wherever she went. Madeline made Harrisburg her home in 1980 to be closer to cherished friends. 

A devoted mother and pillar of strength, Madeline embraced her role with grace and love. Following the loss of her own mother, she selflessly stepped in to care for her younger siblings – a true testament to her compassionate nature. Skilled in the kitchen, Madeline's culinary creations brought joy to all who tasted them. Her love for dancing and singing illuminated every room she entered, but it was the moments spent with family that truly filled her heart. 

Madeline was preceded in death by her husband, Miguel Matos, and daughter Ivette Matos. She is survived by her children: Judy Matos of Lebanon, Daniel Aleman (and Kim Mockaitis) of Enola, and Michael Torres of Harrisburg; her grandson: Giovanni Matos, who has been like a son to her since his mother passed away and who in turn took great care of her; her siblings: Marcelo Figueroa, Edwin Figueroa (and Sara), Luzdelia Cruz, Tommy Cruz (and Juanita); as well as 9 other grandchildren; one great grandson whom she met and held close before passing; her beloved cat Momo; and a multitude of dear friends and extended family members who will forever cherish her memory. 

A memorial service to celebrate Madeline's life will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Kimmel Funeral Home on 2001 Market Street in Harrisburg. Friends are invited to pay their respects from 11:00 am until the start of the service. Madeline's legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
