Marguerite D. Brandt, 93, Long Island, New York, entered the kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, April 27, 2014 in Harrisburg, PA.
Born March 17, 1921 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late James H. Jackson and Mattie Canty, and was the owner of Brandt's House of Beauty, Long Island.
Marguerite was a faithful and longstanding member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Huntington and later became a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Huntington, NY.
She was a Life Member of NAACP and the National Council of Negro Women, of which she was the founder past president of the Huntington chapter; and was a member of the New York Conference Branch Women's Missionary Society.
She was the widow of Julian J. Brandt, who passed away in 1983.
Surviving are her nieces: Sylvia White, New York, Mattice Middleton, California, and Mamie Walton, Pennsylvania and nephews: Claude Jackson, Virginia, Bobbie VanLee, Daniel VanLee, Pennsylvania, and Alex VanLee, Nevada.
Burial was held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
Memorial services will be held 2 pm, Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Central Presbyterian Church, 240 Main Street, Huntington, NY, 11743.
