Marsha G. (Smallbrook) Irvin, 64, of Enola and formerly of Mechanicsburg, entered her heavenly home on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Holy Spirit Hospital. Although her passing was unexpected and heartbreaking, there is joy imagining the greeting she received from her Lord and her beloved husband, John W. Irvin, who passed away last year after 28 years of blessed marriage.
Born September 29, 1950 in York, she was the daughter of the late Francis Smallbrook and Frances Curran. She graduated from Red Lion High School, attended HACC and went on to work at the State Department of Community Affairs. Later, she attended and graduated from Brownsville Revival School of Ministry in Pensacola, FL, achieving her Associate of Arts degree in Christian Ministry.
Marsha was an vital member of the Full Gospel Church of God, Camp Hill and was active in the Prayer team, the Women's Ministry, worked in the nursery and loved being a greeter to all who entered. She dedicated her life to caring for others, as evidenced by her time as a Home Health Care Aide and as a volunteer with Bethesda Mission where her husband was Chaplain and Counselor. Selfless and giving to the end, she was beautifully described as " A virtuous woman, given to hospitality."
She loved Gospel music and spent many hours studying God's Word. Within her circle of close friends and family, she was known for her rich sense of humor, and enjoyed communicating via numerous text messages.
She leaves to celebrate her homecoming while mourning their loss her children: Belinda (and her husband, Peter) Edsall, Michael Irvin (and Victoria San), David Irvin and Benjamin Irvin; her brother: Scott (and his wife, Sherry) Smallbrook; her stepmother: Shirley Smallbrook; one granddaughter: Aurlani Irvin; her niece: Amanda Smallbrook; Godchildren: Akia and Pierce Hill; her best friend of 37 years: Saundra (and her husband, Henry) Hill; her childhood friend, Kathy (and her husband, Spike) Kraft; and several stepchildren and step grandchildren. Her other niece, Alecia Smallbrook, preceded her in death.
Her life will be celebrated 11:00 am Thursday, March 5, 2015 in her church, 220 St. John's Church Road, Camp Hill, with Pastor Mac McNeal officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. This is to be a joyous event, and friends and family are encouraged to wear bright colors to celebrate the blessing of knowing Marsha.
At the convenience of the family, she will be buried beside her beloved husband at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
