Monica Krammer Kline, 65, Swatara Township, passed away suddenly at her home on Sunday, June 23, 2024.
Born March 28, 1959 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, she was the daughter of Lori (Keissling) Hurmence and the late Otto Krammer. In addition to her father, Monica was preceded in death by her stepfather: Harvey Hurmence, and her sister: Heidi Small.
When she was a young child, her family moved from Canada to the States, first to Wisconsin, and settling in the Lebanon, Pennsylvania area. There, she graduated from Cedar Crest High School in 1977, and and later in life, furthered her education at the Lebanon County Career and Technology Center, achieving her LPN license in 2010.
Monica worked part-time while raising her family, and once they were grown, was a nurse for The Highlands at Wyomissing. After ending her employment there, she then worked for Penn State Hershey Medical Center’s Cancer Institute until her retirement, just a couple of weeks ago.
Dedicated to her family and friends, she loved cooking (and watching the Food Channel, non-stop) for everyone, and became known for several dishes, especially her crab dip and her homemade soups. Monica could always be counted on to jump in and help in any situation without needing to be asked. She brightened every room with her beautiful smile, and while occasionally stubborn and forthright, she was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, friend, and, most recently, a devoted grandmother to her first grandchild, Parker. A sun-lover, she took regular trips to Dewey Beach with her family, and while she always took a side trip to the beach, she could often be found sunbathing at the hotel pool. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, in Steelton, and was a firm supporter of blood drives by the Red Cross.
On May 23, 1981, she married John P. Kline, three years after meeting him at the pool where she was a lifeguard.
Surviving is her husband, John; her two sons of whom she was so proud: Andrew S. Kline, Grand Coulee, WA and Thomas E. Kline (and his wife, Sarah), Newmanstown, PA; her mother: Lori Hurmence, Denver, CO; two brothers: Ronald Krammer (and his wife, Jean), Detroit, MI and Richard Krammer (and his wife, Rosalie), Denver, CO; her precious grandson: Parker J. Kline; and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, all of whom will miss her greatly.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 815 S. 2nd Street, Steelton where friends will be received from 10:00 am until 10:45 am. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
Because of her years as a nurse working with oncology, it is fitting that donations be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
Kimmel Funeral Home, Harrisburg, is handling arrangements.
