Norberto Echevarria, 73, of Plant City, FL, and formerly of Harrisburg and Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at the home of his granddaughter, with whom he has been living since 2022.
Born January 28, 1951 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Julia Cuevas and the late Norberto Echevarria. Following high school, Norberto furthered his education at Lincoln University, achieving his Master’s Degree in Human Services. He retired in 2019 from Gaudenzia as a drug and alcohol counselor and had also worked as a custodian for Giant Foods and Central PA Cleaning. Staying busy with work and doing DIY projects were important to him and showed the work ethic he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
Norberto was someone who lived to help others. He was funny and never failed to make a good joke. He had a strong sweet tooth but even sweeter heart for his daughters and grandchildren. His favorite food was rice and beans, he could eat it for breakfast, lunch & dinner. In his spare time he enjoyed listening to music, coin collecting, playing chess and as always eating.
Mostly, he was a loving father and grandfather, who cherished spending time with his adored family.
Surviving are his daughters: Tanya Fernandez, Brandon, FL, Veronica Echevarria, Harrisburg, Jessica Echevarria, Harrisburg, and Sophia Echevarria, Harrisburg; his grandchildren: Alexis Aguilera, Janea Brooks, Alexander Torres, Jr., Adonis Cruz, and Vincent Donnelly; his brother: Enrique Cuevas; his sister: Adelida Echevarria; and his faithful companions: Joy and Fatboi.
