Paul E. Deitzel, Jr., 80, Etters, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Harrisburg Hospital.
Born June 1, 1940 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Paul E. Deitzel, Sr. and Virginia (Boatman) Deitzel and was also preceded in death by his sister, June Yost.
Paul was a graduate of William Penn High School, Harrisburg and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from Penn State University in 1962, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, joined the Perseverance Royal Arch Chapter 21, F&AM in 1961, and went to Nationals in weightlifting during his freshman year.
On December 15, 1962, one week after graduating from College, he married the former Patricia Ann Reardon.
From 1963 to 1968, he entered the Air Force on Active Duty as a student pilot and became an instructor pilot at Craig AFB, Selma, Alabama in 1964. He then joined the 193rd Electronic Warfare Group at Olmstead AFB, Middletown from 1969 to 1984. In 1976 he was awarded the rank of Major.
He worked for the family business, Deitzel Brothers Roofing, Heating, Sheet Metal and Fuel Oil Contractors until 1988 and then worked for James Craft and Sons as a Sheet Metal Coordinator until his retirement in 2006.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Patricia A. Deitzel; his daughter, Kimberly Pentz; 2 sons, Paul Deitzel (Deidra) and Aaron Deitzel (Beth); his grandchildren: Joseph Pentz, Michael Pentz (Nicole), Emily Pentz, Jordan Deitzel (Becky), Gareth Deitzel (Emma), Kylie Deitzel, Matthew Deitzel, and Zachary Deitzel; great grandchildren, Dominic Deitzel, Tristan Deitzel, and Lane Paul Pentz; brother-in-law, John Reardon (Rhonda); sisters-in-law, Margaret Hevel, Elizabeth Andrejack (Gary), Barbara Pouchan (Adrian), Eileen Baumbach, Kathleen Corrado (Lou) and Rosemary Conrad (George); and nieces, Sandra Osmun and Jennifer Fetterhoff.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 1:30 pm on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill. Covid-19 protocols of face coverings and social distancing will be required.
Kimmel Funeral Home, Harrisburg, is handling arrangements.
