Peggy Ann (Meyer) Grundon

Peggy Ann (Meyer) Grundon, 88, West Hanover Township, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of August 24, 2021, holding the hand of her loving daughter, Cheryl, and comforted by her friend, Teri.

Born on October 25, 1932 to Anna Jane (Boyer) and Ralph Edward Meyer, Peggy lived in Harrisburg and graduated from John Harris High School. She was the last of the Meyer siblings, passing down family stories along with her famous chicken corn soup recipe.

Peggy lived her life with love and in service to others. She served faithfully for over fifty years with the Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania’s Order of the Eastern Star, and was an active member of the Humane Society Auxiliary. After retiring from Harris Savings Bank, she served ice-cream at the local farmers’ market. She was involved in numerous fundraisers and community outreach programs, and was a life-long member of Memorial Lutheran Church.

With her passing, the last seat at the boisterous Meyer pinochle table is filled. She is welcomed by the players already seated at the table: Anna (mom,) Ralph (father,) Polly (sister), Audrey (sister,) and Bob (brother.)

Peggy is also predeceased by her husbands, Harvey Geib (1967) and William Grundon (1978).

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Campbell of Harrisburg. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with their spouses and children who knew that “when Aunt Peg was there, it was going to be a good time”: Cindi & Brad, Suzanne & Ken (Timothy & Daniel), Bradley & Barb (Erika & Alexis), Wes & Tracy (Summer), Carrie & Dave (Radek & Dylan), and Andy & Christy (Evan, Preston, & Emma.) She also leaves behind many friends whom she loved like family.

A memorial service will be performed by Peggy’s great nephew, Pastor Daniel Joiner Miller at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market Street, Harrisburg, 11:00 am, Friday, September 10, 2021, where friends will be received from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
