Rafael Angel Delgado-Laureano, 81, formerly of Puerto Rico, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 23, 2018 in Camp Hill.
Born September 11, 1937 in Juncos, PR, he was the son of the late Julian Delgado and Adriana Laureano and was employed by the Public Works/Parks Department of the Puerto Rican Government. He moved to the Bronx when he was 17 but returned to Puerto Rico in his 30s, where he remained until last year when he came to Camp Hill to live with his son, Martin.
After he retired in Puerto Rico, he had a daily routine where he would wake up, get his coffee, and meet his buddies in the Plaza to play cards and dominoes.
Much of Rafael’s life was centered around baseball. He played in AA and AAA teams and traveling teams in Puerto Rico, New York and California. He was a Yankees fan, but truly supported teams in Puerto Rico, never missing a chance to go to a game and coaching his son when he was young. Although he suffered from dementia this past year, he was still able to help train his great grandson in baseball.
Surviving are his children: Vivian Delgado, Bronx, Edward Delgado (Jessie), Tampa, Martin Delgado (Toni), Camp Hill, Carlos Delgado, Davenport, FL and José Hernandez, Orlando; 16 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Luz Delgado, Puerto Rico, Olga Delgado (Raul), Puerto Rico and Mayra Delgado (Saul), Juncos, PR; 3 brothers: Oscar Rodriguez, Puerto Rico, Jorge Rodriguez, New York and Julio Delgado, Reading; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received for a viewing and time of remembrances from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market Street, Harrisburg.
