Rodger L. Fegan, 84, of Masonic Village, Elizabethtown and a lifelong resident of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2014 after a lengthy illness.
Born March 3, 1930 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Leigh and Verna (Page) Fegan, and was also preceded in death by a half sister, Edith Bennett and a granddaughter, Julie Sohn.
He was a graduate of Lower Paxton High School, attended the University of Pennsylvania, and for almost fifty years was a bus driver with Capital Area Transit, a job he dearly loved. He also worked for the State surveying roads and was a lifetime member and former officer of Teamsters Local 776. He was a former member of Colonial Park United Church of Christ; was a 32° Mason with Snyder Lodge 756, F&AM; was a member of Harrisburg Consistory and Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Forest 43 (where he was a Ranger and belonged to the Special Interest Auto Unit); and was an Adult Leader for the Dauphin County 4-H Horse and Pony Club in the 1960s. In addition, he served as an officer in the former CAT Federal Credit Union and an officer and board member of the Pennsylvania Central Credit Union.
Surviving is his beloved wife of over 45 years: Judith (Sanderson) Fegan; 2 loving daughters: Judy A. (and Taj) Hanna, Stuart, FL and Patricia L. Fegan, Lillian, AL; 3 adoring grandchildren: Jennifer (and Ronald W. McDonel, Jr) McDonel, Matthew Sohn and Gregory Kaylor; 5 devoted great granddaughters: Courtney Sohn, Molly Sohn McDonel, Alea Sohn, Ariel Kaylor and Marilyn Sohn; 2 Godchildren: Jeremy Saul and Kimberlee Saul; 2 nephews: Sean (and Kiera) Sanderson and their 2 daughters and Ethan (and Jessica) Sanderson and their 3 sons; and his special buddy, JJ, his Sheltie. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and pets. He was loved by and will be missed by all who knew him.
Services will be held 11:00 am Monday, July 14, 2014 at Sell Chapel, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, with Rev. Peter Ogilvie officiating. There will be a viewing at 10:00 am Monday followed by a Masonic Service at 10:45 am. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
