Vanessa L. (Blackman) Scrbacic, 28, of Harrisburg, went to be with her Lord on Friday, December 30, 2016. She joins in heaven her precious son, Alexander Blackman.
Born March 14, 1988 in Barbados, she was the daughter of Marlene Blackman and David Savory and was a 2007 graduate of Central Dauphin East High School.
Vanessa had been employed by the PriceRite on Union Deposit Road and True Value Hardware on 29th Street, Harrisburg. She was an avid cook, and loved trying out new foods, especially pasta and seafood. She was a Steelers fan and liked R&B and pop music. Since high school, however, her favorite activity was playing volleyball. Even as an adult, she travelled around to different tournaments both in and out of state.
Vanessa was a loving daughter, sister and mother, and a loyal friend. Her high school friendships are still important to her, and she will be missed dearly by her friends, especially her “God-sister”, Fantasha, her friend, Stacie; her lifelong friends, Amanda and Bridie; and many others who loved her.
Surviving is her mother, Marlene Blackman, Harrisburg; her 3 children: Xavier Scrbacic, Solara Scrbacic and Donovan Beck; her sister: Nicolle C. (and her husband, Keith) Garris, Chambersburg; her boyfriend, Josh Beck; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held 10:00 am Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1099 Highspire Road, Harrisburg, with the Rev. Michael J. Golden officiating. The family will be receiving friends following the service during a reception time.
